“Every time you save something on a JPG file, you compress it all over again.” (S. Omeone)

  1. Thats history and not anymore true for the present. If you save with zero compression you dont loose any information. If you use compression on jpegs its your own fault. There were some faulty software back in those days which rendered jpegs more bad the often you saved it.

  2. Interesting. Just looked up a few pages and it seems that your saying is true. JPEG degenerates a file every time it is resaved (even at 100% quality). I read about the topic a few months back and had a source which stated the exact opposite. Guess i will have to run some tests now cause i cant relay on the web :)

  4. What\’s a trackback? ;)

Thank you very much for your tests and comments. Highly appreciated!

PS: In order to keep it interantional… In his blog article (written in German), Stefan basically says that there\’s actually some truth in that quote. He tested it by saving a JPG file 25 times.
