// Soup kitchen (start left)

Last winter I was shooting on a story for my reportage class in a soup kitchen here in Bielefeld. The topic we were given was called “Das Fest” (engl. “The celebration”). The confines were not too strict, so I decided to show the mini “Fest” the people over there have three times a week — especially when it’s cold outside and people only have a few bucks left in the pocket. Usually, thats at the end of the month. You can see the final selection when you click on the picture.

// Romka Mag

Maybe you want to have a look at the great Romka magazine. It features aspiring photographers from all over the world with their personal works - often quite raw, uncut and very subjective. Your can download the PDF’s for free over here.

// Poland

In two weeks I’m going on a 13h train ride towards Poland and — of course — I’m struggling with the camera question. Always the same. I want to give digital color a try, because the (actually kinda neat) 5D is lying around most of the time. So… at the moment I’m looking for some nice color reportage stuff. After seeing and re-visiting really great storys (like here or here) I’m plain curious about how the final pictures will look and feel like (if I can resist shooting film).

Also… in terms of post processing, at the moment I see the stated storys as state of the art when it comes to handling color. I hope I’m able to come close to this in pp after I’ve shoot some hopefully interesting pictures over there.

Some time ago I found a list of things you might consider when you’re going on a (photo)trip.
