This week I went to a training game of the “Untouchables” - the baseball team of Paderborn (Germany). In fact, I was there to capture two more pictures for my portfolio, but back home I decided to pack all the other ones in a little slideshow (which I just love doing at the moment). I cannot stop wondering why I’m not able to reach those tones with digital photography. I mean… these are scans of a roll of “macophot up 400plus” film, which costs about 1 Euro. And they come out that amazing… Can you reach this look with using digital images in Photoshop? If it’s so, please tell me how.
T- 2 weeks. The last days/weeks most of the time I found myself standing in the darkroom in order to get some nice prints for my portfilio to apply at the “Fachhochschule Bielefeld”. Gladly, it is almost finished. And finally, after I’ve done the new homework (so that they have another opportunity to see whether I have photography skills or not) I’ll have enough time to get through other negs I produced besides working on the portfolio.
Working seriously with film in the darkroom made me think about getting a modern SLR like an EOS 1 for instance and do stories only by using film. I’m not kidding… *g* I recognized, that within the whole analogue process I actually don’t make bigger mistakes any more, so that I can be pretty sure that if I capture a picture with an good film camera I’ll get a decent print out of it. This is kinda new to me I have to admit. The quality I get from using really cheap macophot film together with Rodinal and Ilford Multigrade warmtone paper is amazing. I plan to do some quite big prints like 40×50 (cm) or something like that. That’ll be niiiice.. :-)

Today my wireless-flash-trigger arrived… It works well with my studio flash, but there’s a problem with using my portable one. I bought it because in the description was written that it features a hot shoe so that I’d be able to use it with both of my flashes. Buuut… it doesn’t has one, so I assume this little thing will be exchanged by the seller. I love ebay shopping. : /
