// Thoughts in pp

Miss F and my attempts in post processing in order to avoid the keen digital look. For me it’s always a fine line between being too evident on one side and being too hesitant on the other. I’d really like to get a professional insight on this matter.

// Snaps
Yesterday, I bumped into some older shots I made on a trip to Hamburg with a Ricoh GR Digital - too bad that I sold it afterwards.

// Files

This morning I did some research on older street photographs of mine. Amongst other it took me to this one and I realized, that I just couldn’t find the original file any more. Kinda sad, because I think it’s a good shot. Plus… since 2004 my skills in editing increased a little - now, I won’t just convert it to grayscale mode and that’s it. I did some pp on it just to have a slight sight on how it could have looked if I still had the file, but of course it’s only a crappy jpg. Too bad.

Anyway… if I shot this on film, I probably wouldn’t have this problem. I’m curious if in the future I’ll still have all my digital photos I take nowadays.

I just found the usb cable to connect my cellphone to my notebook so I transferred some snaps I did in 2007/08. I worked in a company that manufactures couches - totally in contrast to what I do now a few months later.

It was not a bad job, but I’m really glad I chose to go to a university to study photography. I really hope I don’t have to go back beeing only a little plant in a big random industry working on the assembly line or something like that. I guess that ain’t gonna happen… But you never now.

Although these are only bad cellphone pictures I like how they work together in this small story. They’re straight out of the cam.

I was just running some tests in scanning color negatives as I hardly have skills in that… With earlyer tryouts in mind I expected great disillusion, but scanning them (#/#) wasn’t that much of a problem. Errr… Hurray! :)

Even correcting color in pictures I’ve done under tungsten conditions was kinda easy. Plus - as you can see here - I figured out how to make digital contact sheets with color film. Awesome!

These PS contact sheets look kinda fancy. Though, I’m not too sure about their benefit as I tend to make "normal" contacts (this already a selection of course).

I print the pictures out in 10×15 to make a final selection for he story. The filenames are on the back of the prints, too. So… well. But I have to admit they look cool. Hrhr. Would be interesting to hear from your workflow, too… ;)
